December 12, within the framework of the Institutional Empowerment and Mediation Development Project of the Mediators Association of Georgia roundtable meeting with judges.

Within the framework of Mediation Week, the Mediators Association of Georgia held a roundtable workshop with the judges with the support of the USAID Rule of Law program "Institutional Empowerment and Development Project".

 



Irakli Kandashvili, Chairman of the Mediators Association of Georgia, and Sophio Tkemaladze, ADR Advisor to the USAID Rule of Law program, addressed the invited guests.

 



The workshop was attended by judges of the Tbilisi City Court, members of the Executive Board of the Mediators Association of Georgia and members of the Ethics Commission of the Association. A representative of the Ministry of Justice of Georgia was also invited to the meeting.

 



At the working meeting, the Head of the Ministry of Justice, Irina Tsakadze, and the invited judges Violetta Porchkhidze, Tina Vashakmadze, Ekaterine Eliadze, Ucha Todua and Salome Gvelesiani discussed important issues related to the challenges related to the enforcement of the mediation agreement;

 



Prospects for further regulation of the issue of return of the state duty paid for the purposes of the mediation process and the procedural regulation of the appeal of the ethical sanction.

 



The meeting ended with a summary discussion and it was planned to take effective steps to further improve mediation legislation to strengthen the mediation institution.
