Compulsory training program on mediation ethics developed within the framework of continuous professional education of mediators

The mandatory mediation ethics training program for mediators developed within the framework of continuing professional education of mediators, supported by the USAID Rule of Law Program, continues

Within the framework of the training course, the Georgian mediation practice was generalized in terms of the standards of professional behavior of mediators, the importance of ethics in the formation of mediation as a profession was discussed, the procedural content of the mediator's ethics standards was presented, and the strategies and recommendations for the management of ethical dilemmas by mediators were shared. 


During the training, the participants also performed group work, discussed specific cases where problems and dilemmas of principles were raised, such as: promotion of good faith negotiation and informed agreement/self-determination, scope of promotion of voluntary agreement in mandatory court mediation, mediation by the parties the legal and ethical standard of the obligation to inform, the obligation of independence/neutrality and impartiality of the mediator, the application of the principle of confidentiality in the termination of the mandatory judicial mediation process, the promotion of the best interests of children, the obligation to ensure equality and others. 


The continuing professional education course on mediation ethics is mandatory for all working mediators, which serves to strengthen the ethical sustainability and reliability of mediation, uniform establishment of professional conduct standards and conscientious implementation in court and private mediation.
