Organized by the Mediators Association of Georgia and supported by the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), a training on "Psychological Aspects of Children in Civic Mediation" was conducted for the members of the Association.

Organized by the Mediators Association of Georgia and supported by the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), a training on "Psychological Aspects of Children in Civic Mediation" was conducted for the members of the Association. The event was opened by Irakli Kandashvili, Chairman of the Mediators Association of Georgia and Ms. Amy Klans, UNICEF Deputy Representative in Georgia. Representatives of the organization noted, that these events and activities are extremely important for the further development of mediation, and will be a basis for providing many more similar activities in the future, under the existing Memorandum of Understanding. The training covered issues such as: peculiarities of the child's development and correspondance with the child, the role of the psychologist in the civil and administrative affairs with children being involved in, psychological difficulties of the parent-child, domestic violence, psychological characteristics of the children who are victims of domestic violence and others. Involvement of specialized mediators, ensures the protection of the child’s dignity, well being and safety,it also guarantees, that the best interests of the child are taken into consideration in the process of mediation. That is the reason, why the Association constantly encourages and assists the mediators who are members of the Association in their professional development.
