Mediators Association of Georgia participated in the webinar planned by the Arbitration and Mediation Center of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and Sakpatent, which was about alternative dispute resolution methods.

The event was held within the framework of the memorandum of understanding signed between WIPO and the National Intellectual Property Center "Sakpatent".



At the webinar, Irakli Kandashvili, the chairman of the Mediators Association of Georgia, made a presentation about the principles of the mediation process and the enforcement of settlement agreements in Georgia.

 



The activity practices of the WIPO Mediation and Arbitration Center were shared at the event, as well as the WIPO mediation rules and principles, which are used to achieve effectiveness in the mediation process, were discussed.



Taking into account the best international experience shared by WIPO experts, the meeting also discussed the prospects of introducing mediation in the Appellate Chamber with Sakpatent.

 



It should be noted that according to the statistical data of theWIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center 70%, intellectual property disputes are settled through mediation. The importance of this mechanism is emphasized by the fact that the services of the WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center are regularly used by international corporations, small and medium-sized enterprises, start-ups, as well as research and development centers, universities, artists, inventors and manufacturers around the world.
