Giorgi Tsertsvadze

Giorgi Tsertsvadze is the Managing Partner of“J&T Consulting”, founder of “EBA Mediation and Arbitration Center”, as well as a Doctor of Law and an Associate Professor at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University.
 
Giorgi Tsertsvadze studied law at Tbilisi State University from 1999 to 2004. At the same university, he defended his dissertation on the problematic issues of international arbitration for the degree of PhD in 2009. At different times, he has received research grants and fellowships from the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law (Germany), the Volkswagen Foundation (Germany), the German Academic Exchange Service (Germany), the Chuo Law School (Japan), the Japan Association of Arbitrators (Japan), the United States Agency for International Development (USAID, USA), the Weinstein JAMS International Fellowship Program (USA) and the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (Germany).
 
Giorgi has been practicing law since 2003. Since 2004, he has been a member of the Georgian Bar Association, and since 2012, he has been a mediator licensed by the Frank Evans Center for Conflict Resolution (Houston, Texas, USA). In 2008, he founded the law firm “J&T Consulting” [www.jtconsulting-geo.com] and he has served as its permanent managing partner since 2009.Giorgi is also a co-founder of the EBA Mediation and Arbitration Center [www.eba-mac.com], which was established in 2018. In 2011-2012, as an expert on mediation, he was a member of the working group on the amendments to the Civil Procedure Code constituted at the initiative of the High Council of Justice of Georgia.In 2015-2018 Giorgi Tsertsvadze was Chairman of The Georgian Association of Mediators” N(N)LE. He has been engaged in educational activities since 2005. He teaches mediation, arbitration and investment law at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, and Business Law at Alte University. Since 2006, Giorgi Tsertsvadze has been actively given trainings on legal issues related to business regulation and alternative dispute resolution at the invitation of the Training Center of the Ministry of Justice of Georgia, the Training Center of the Georgian Bar Association, the Business Training Association, the European Academic Center and other private and public organizations. Since 2020, as a Partner Trainer at the Edwards Mediation Academy, he has been leading a joint mediation program with colleagues.

 
In 2020, Giorgi was selected as a Mediator for the Global Mediation Panel, which is an initiative of the office of the Ombudsman for the UN Funds & Programmes, which serves five UN organizations (UNDP, UNFRA, UNICEF, UNOPS, and UN-Women). The process of selecting mediators has been going on for several weeks and to date, the panel brings together 35 experienced mediators from around the world.

 
Giorgi Tsertsvadze is the author of more than ten scientific papers published in Georgia, Germany, Austria, Japan and the USA. In addition, he is the author of textbooks on competition law, international arbitration, mediation and investment law, and co-author of the textbook on contract law and commentaries on the Civil Code.
