A memorandum of cooperation was signed between the Mediators Association of Georgia and the Legal Aid Service.
The memorandum aims to cooperate on current issues in the field of common interests, to implement joint events, projects and initiatives for the institutional development and promotion of mediation which will contribute to the introduction/popularization of mediation as an alternative means of dispute resolution in Georgia.
The parties discussed and planned future activities within the framework of the memorandum, including the idea of referring cases to mediation in the legal aid service, introducing and implementing them in practice.
It is important to introduce the use of mediation in civil category disputes in the proceedings of the legal aid service, which will contribute, on the one hand, to the promotion and development of mediation and on the other hand, to relieve the flow of cases in the legal aid service.
The memorandum was signed by Irakli Kandashvili, the chairman of the Mediators Association of Georgia, and Davit Simonia, the director of the Legal Assistance Service.
